The Area

The Fenton Centre is located in the heart of north Northumberland - England's border region with Scotland.

Often referred to as, "England's last wilderness" Northumberland is one of the most spectacularly varied counties in the country - From the rugged uplands of the Cheviot Hills, to the glorious unspoilt coastline, if you are an outdoor lover, the area can boast literally something for everyone.

Northumberland is an area where history is never far from view. Including the World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall, built as the northern boundary of the Roman Empire almost 2,000 years ago and more castles and fortified houses than any other English county, a trip to Northumberland brings history to life.

For the wildlife lover, the county includes a wide variety of diverse and spectacular must sees - Don't miss a short boat trip to the RSPB sanctuary of the Farne Islands where sea birds colonate and Grey Seals hunt in the clear green sea.

More modern attractions include the recently opened and constantly changing Alnwick Garden, complete with spectacular water features, Tree House, Poison Garden, Labyrinth, etc. Well worth a trip. As well as a host of villages and market towns with their own individual character and flavour.
